Land Agency Manager – Craig Brough

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself as Land Agency Manager at Hopes Auction Company Ltd. I am Delighted to join the team at Hopes and look forward to developing the Land Agency services which we offer.  Following  11 years working at H&H Land and Property as an associate director, based at Rosehill, Carlisle, I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to take on the management of the Land Agency from Ian Ritchie and wish to thank Ian for his time with the company.

I am a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and Fellow the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (FAAV), and undertake a broad range of work including the sale and letting of farms and land, valuations for all purposes, advice relating to landlord and tenant matters, planning and development advice including option and promotion agreements,  compensation claims on behalf of land owners affected by utility schemes, highways access and compulsory purchase schemes, as well submitting Basic Payment scheme applications and Environmental Stewardship scheme applications.

I attended Caldew School in Dalston, before graduating from Harper Adams University College in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Rural Enterprise and Land Management.
I was awarded the Jonathan Turnbull Prize for the highest placed student in the CAAV entrance examinations in the Northumbria and Cumbria Branch (2009).

I was previously a member of Raughton Head Young Farmers,  and remain active with Cumbria YFC providing assistance judging and stewarding,  I currently sit on the Cumbria Branch of the Country Land and Business Association as well as the National Land Use and Policy committee for the CLA,  I am Junior Vice Chairmen of The Northumbria and Cumbria CAAV branch and a Trustee & Committee member of Dalston Agricultural Society, where I am actively involved both helping to organise and showing at the Show each August.

Away from work, Judy my wife & I are expecting our first Child in August.  We are kept busy at nights and weekends managing our own flock of breeding ewes which are kept alongside the Family Farm at Buckabank, near Dalston where we also have a small herd of Jersey and Holstein cattle within the main family herd.  We are both keen on showing cattle and sheep and have over the years had some notable success at Local and County shows.

I look forward to meeting clients old and new, please do not hesitate to give me a call for any advice you require.
